Fox Antique White Utility Jacket

Sale price£620 GBP

The Fox Utility Jacket is a popular style amongst our Fox Ambassadors, due to its everyday functionality and classic design.

Styled in classic utility jacket fashion with a traditional foldover collar, button-front construction, large patch pockets on the chest and hips, unlined inner, and a middle seam to the back of the garment.

Crafted using Fox Brothers' prestigious cloth, our take on the casual and timeless utility jacket, has since become one of our signature pieces. A true go-to staple as part of an effortlessly stylish wardrobe.

Elevated through subtle details, with an unlined inner to be in keeping with its traditional roots. This jacket blends utility style with modern flair, in order to add a touch of nostalgia to the time-honoured utility jacket.

Presented in an off-white colourway, The Fox Utility Jackets have been inspired by shades of historic buildings and rustic countryside, ranging from wooden beam constructions to elegant corner cupboards. The palette includes historic colours of eighteenth and nineteenth century Britain, with earthy like pigments associated with faculty buildings and farmland, all purposefully chosen to create an enriching garment full of historical character.

Made using a yarn which is spun in the UK, from strong wool. During wet finishing, the cloth is worked heavily to break and blend the wool fibres. Ultimately, producing a cloth base as similar to vintage coating.

The piece features a revamped fit from that of its predecessor, making it more true to size for the modern-day man. In addition to being crafted in 100% British wool, with a cloth weight of 820/850g, for a hardy and soft day-to-day jacket.

PROVENANCE [ THE MERCHANT UTILITY JACKET ]

Made in France, in the heart of the Indre department. Three generations of the Hervier family have passed down the company's skills.

To this day Monsieur Hervier keeps an eye on everything being made in the atelier, including the fine finishes such as the keyhole buttonholes and impeccable piped pockets. The passion for garment making is clear in their work.

Fox Brothers, the English woollen mill established in Somerset in 1772 is credited with being the originator of fine woollen and worsted flannels during the last century and is still said to produce the best in the world. According to style connoisseurs, when choosing flannel, “always be sure to ask for it (Fox) by name”.

Fox Brothers first developed ‘flannel’ in 1803 and to quote Esquire magazine, is still the “Standard Bearer” for this wonderfully soft cloth. Loved by tailors who appreciate the way it cuts "like a good butter', this wonderfully soft cloth has evolved over many years and is now available as suit lengths in varying designs and weights, exclusively on The Merchant Fox.
