PROVENANCE [ DART LEATHER BAG ]

Each Dart Messenger Bag has been hand-crafted in South Devon by Tanner Bates, a fourth generation leather worker and the leather used is tanned at what is the last remaining traditional oak bark tannery in the British Isles. There has been a tannery on the same site since Roman times and the leather is allowed to tan and preserve for nearly two years before it is used to create each bag for The Merchant Fox.

In using Devon river water, British oak bark from renewable sources and taking around two years to produce the rich coloured, organic leather, each bag is unique - a piece of genuine British-made luxury.

The character of leather will vary for every individual bag, making each one of a kind.

Care

Before leaving the tannery our leather is treated with a blend of waxes and oils which among other things offer suppleness and water resistance. With time and use the oak bark tanned leather softens and becomes more flexible.

To maintain durability apply a hide food every 6 months or so. If used in wet conditions we recommend you maintain the water resistance of the bag with a water resistant wax. This will also avoid dye staining.
